Now, MAGA farmers and ranchers are speaking out about how their livelihoods will take a big hit from this move.

That’s the general vibe of people who are essentially telling MAGA-supporting farmers that Trump is who they voted for and Trump may be responsible for taking business from them, but it’s hard to feel empathy for MAGA farmers at this point.

When a farmer from Mason Hills Farm in Alabama posted a video on TikTok detailing how much meat buyers can get if they purchase an entire cow from the farm, users flew to the comments to wonder about the owner’s political affiliation. Then, someone shared a screenshot from the comments on Reddit.
In the exchange, someone asked who the owner voted for “in the last three elections.” The farmer responded asking why he needs to disclose who he voted for in order for the user to buy his beef. Another person responded, “Means you voted for Trump.”
Someone on the Reddit post commented, “The only other thing that I’m not buying even more than mystery meat is MAGA-raised meat or dairy.”
And therein lies an apparent issue for farmers who are feeling the pain of Trump’s imported beef, even if they once voted for Trump. In another video on TikTok posted by Mason Hills Farm, a voiceover explains how “there is nothing better than fresh ground beef” from this particular farm, and how it is all USDA inspected.
Another TikTok user shared a compilation of videos from farmers who posted about losing business due to Trump lifting tariffs temporarily to allow beef to be imported to the U.S. as a more affordable option for most shoppers.
Someone joked in the comments, “‘Owning the libs’ came at a cost huh?”
Another added, “It’s almost like…they got what they voted for.”
Farmers in the U.S. are facing widespread hardships.

According to Australian Financial Review, the costs of fertilizer and diesel due to the Iran conflict has caused issues for American farmers. That, in turn, has driven up the cost of beef from farms for people in the U.S. to purchase. Instead of fixing it on a widespread level, Trump imposed plans to allow beef to be imported to the U.S. as an alternative. But now it’s hitting the pockets of U.S.-based farmers.
The president of Nebraska Farmers Union, John Hansen, explained to the outlet, “This is the worst financial downturn in the sector since the 1980s.”
According to some, though, farmers who once backed Trump and all of his plans for the U.S. now only have themselves to blame for being victims of Trump’s decisions as president.

Then, there’s the horse meat of it all. While Trump has not announced plans to have supermarkets sell horse meat disguised as beef, there are conspiracy theories regarding that possibility. Fox 10 News in Phoenix, Ariz. reported that horses were being sold to be sent to slaughterhouses. So when the news of imported beef also came out, people began to theorize that a mystery meat on the market involves ground up horse meat.
According to NewsNation, there is no evidence of that. Of course, that doesn’t stop people, particularly those who are wary of Trump and his beef import ideas, from fearing the worst.
