Mariah Carey was recently asked to share her thoughts on Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez’s extravagant wedding, and her response has gone viral. Unlike the many celebrities who attended the lavish celebration — and the ones who criticized the whole thing — Mariah didn’t seem to care about it at all.
In paparazzi footage that has been making the rounds on social media, someone asked Mariah, “What did you think about Jeff Bezos’s wedding?” She answered matter-of-factly: “I wasn’t there.”
Since the singer didn’t attend the Amazon founder’s high-profile wedding, someone asked her if it was simply because she wasn’t invited. However, Mariah quickly shot back with, “Oh, don’t turn this into that.”
Though Mariah’s response was simple, fans loved it. They took it as evidence that Mariah truly couldn’t be bothered to care about the Bezos wedding. “She literally didn’t care,” one fan observed. Another fan added, “She doesn’t care about [the] Bezos wedding, she’s Mariah Carey!”
The viral clip also reminded many fans of an iconic comment Mariah made years ago. In 2003, when she was asked to share her thoughts on Jennifer Lopez. Mariah simply responded with, “I don’t know her.” Years later, the comment remains memeable. A large number of comments on the recent clip referred the memorable line.

“She doesn’t know him,” one person commented on the paparazzi clip.
Another fan thought she was going to say exactly that when asked about Jeff Bezos. “I thought she was gonna say who is that lol,” they wrote.
A third fan declared, “‘I wasn’t there’ is the new ‘I don’t know her.'”
A lot of celebrities, including Usher, Orlando Bloom, Sydney Sweeney, and Kim Kardashian, celebrated alongside the newlyweds. Meanwhile, several other celebrities, including Rosie O’Donnell and Charlize Theron, pointed out that there were more important things to worry about than the Bezos wedding.
