It’s clear that First Lady Melania Trump has always been pretty protective of her son Barron. At one point, her husband, President Donald Trump, even said that Melania loves Barron more than she loves him. And after the great lengths Melania has gone through to protect Barron and keep him out of the spotlight during his dad’s presidencies, she was reportedly not happy with what Eric Trump recently shared about him.
When Trump first became president, Barron was only 10 years old. As a child, he largely remained out of the spotlight and didn’t make public appearances. Now, he’s 19 years old and a sophomore in college. He attended his father’s inauguration in January 2025.
Eric recently shed light on Barron’s interaction with Former President Joe Biden.
While at his father’s inauguration, Barron was spotted talking to the former president, leading people to wonder what he said. For some time, this remained a mystery, though some lip readers shared their theories. But during an appearance on The Megyn Kelly Show, Eric revealed that he called his younger brother to ask him what he said to Biden.
According to Eric, Barron was extremely polite — almost polite beyond Eric’s comprehension, it seems. “It was something so polite I almost wouldn’t even get it right,” Eric said. “‘Congratulations and best of luck to you,’ or something like that. Something very respectful.”
Eric went on to say that Barron didn’t seem capable of saying anything rude or offensive.
“He just doesn’t have that in him,” he explained. “Like, he’s a nice guy. He’s probably thinking it. He definitely has it up here, but he’s too courteous to actually go out there and say it.”
Later, though, Eric seemed to suggest that Barron could grow out of this. “Barron’s young, right?” Eric added. “He’s not like old enough to be a jerk and get away with it.”
Apparently, Melania was not happy about these comments.
Sure, Eric didn’t exactly say anything negative. But Melania has worked so hard to keep her son out of the spotlight (which honestly seems really hard given that his dad is the president, and an extremely controversial one), so Eric’s comments kind of undermined all of that effort. According to insiders, she did not mince her words when confronting him about it.
A source told Hollywood insider Rob Shuter that Melania “does not want Barron discussed” at all, so Eric’s comments allegedly made her “deeply uncomfortable.”
Because of what Eric revealed, Barron made headlines. In response, Melania reportedly told Eric to be quiet. “She told Eric to shut his mouth,” the insider claimed. “She protects that boy like a lioness.”
