The holiday season is typically a time when the whole family gets together. So when pictures of the Trump family Christmas at Mar-a-Lago were shared to Instagram and Melania was noticeably absent, people started talking. Where was the former first lady?
Many sources such as Page Six and Fox News stated she was with her mother, Amalija Knavs, who is very sick. Others speculate that she rarely visits Mar-a-Lago at all and no one really knows her location on a day-to-day basis.
A Trump spokesperson spoke to Fox News about the situation. “Melania has always been very devoted to her entire family,” they stated. “It should be no surprise that she spent this Christmas with her ailing mother.”
The Mercury News isn’t completely buying that story. They find it suspicious that Melania’s father managed to make it to Mar-a-Lago for the holiday festivities. If he could be there, why couldn’t Melania?

Laurence Leamer, author of Mar-A-Lago: Inside the Gates of Power at Donald Trump's Presidential Palace, spoke to The Telegraph about Melania’s frequent absences from the Florida estate. "Nobody knows where she is,” he claimed. “It’s like a mystery. It’s certainly talked about … She rarely exits Mar-a-Lago. It’s a strange, isolated life they have in that place."
