In 2022, A Michigan Republican said something so mind-blowingly offensive that it's drawing criticism from … well, pretty much everyone who has heard it.
Robert "RJ" Regan, who is running for a state House seat, took part in a Facebook livestream hosted by a conservative group on Sunday. During the livestream, he said that he tells his daughters to “lie back and enjoy it” if rape is inevitable.
The comments quickly came under fire. I mean, obviously?
It's truly hard to understand how someone who would make such a disgusting comment is even being considered for any kind of public office. But here we are. Regan seemed be making an analogy with the gross comment when arguing that it was not too late to decertify the results of the 2020 presidential election.

Whether the comment was serious or a complete joke, it's far from funny. What kind of man would ever use his daughters in a joke about rape in the first place? What kind of candidate would make a rape joke at all?
The questions are basically endless.
Sadly, this very confused human has already won a four-way special election and is the Republican nominee for the House seat. He's also said that the war in Ukraine is fake.
Ya know, "just like the fake pandemic.” Awesome.
It seems like this guy's disgusting opinions are not hard to uncover. In May of 2021, Regan shared multiple posts on his personal Facebook page that pushed anti-Semitic viewpoints. And in 2021, he tweeted that “Climate change is a hoax, just like Covid was."
Robert Regan may have some fans, but his own daughters don't seem to be. We cannot imagine why.
In 2020, when he was running for the same House seat, his daughter Stephanie tweeted, “if you’re in Michigan and 18+ pls for the love of god do not vote for my dad for state rep. tell everyone.”
In a follow-up tweet, she continued, “Do a quick fb or google search to find info about his campaign,” she went on. “I don’t feel safe rn sharing further information regarding his beliefs, but please look him up and just read for yourself.”
Regan is favored to win the House seat.
