Mike Vrabel issued a statement after photos of the Patriots coach and The Athletic’s Dianna Russini surfaced of the two at the Ambiente in Sedona, Arizona.
“These photos show a completely innocent interaction and any suggestion otherwise is laughable. This doesn’t deserve any further response,” Vrabel told Page Six, who published the photos.
Russini also issued a statement to the outlet: “The photos don’t represent the group of six people who were hanging out during the day. Like most journalists in the NFL, reporters interact with sources away from stadiums and other venues.”
Steven Ginsberg, The Athletic’s executive editor, called the photos misleading. “These photos are misleading and lack essential context. These were public interactions in front of many people. Dianna is a premier journalist covering the NFL and we’re proud to have her at the Athletic.”
A handful of photos were published by Page Six of Vrabel and Russini sitting together around the hotel’s pool, hot tub and were later spotted on a rooftop.
Russini married Kevin Goldschmidt in 2020. Vrabel married his wife Jen in 1999.
The photos were reportedly from two weeks ago. Vrabel was in Arizona recently for the annual NFL Meetings.
