Nick Cannon Is The Latest Celebrity To Go Full-On MAGA

During a recent conversation, Nick Cannon revealed that he likes President Donald Trump, and although people are not exactly shocked, they still have questions about his political opinions. On a recent episode of his web talk show “Big Drive,” Cannon had model Amber Rose as a guest. You might remember how Rose spoke at the Republican National Convention in 2024, so it’s really no surprise that she defended the GOP during her conversation with Cannon.

“Democrats don’t care about Black people,” Rose asserted. “They don’t care about people of color, and the Republicans do. And that’s a misconception.”

Cannon made it clear that he agrees with her.

Then, he went into more detail about his political beliefs and, uh, people think he seems a bit misinformed. “I agree with you 100 percent,” Cannon told Rose. “People don’t know that Democrats are the party of the KKK. People don’t know that Republicans are the party that freed the slaves.”

But on Reddit, critics called Cannon “woefully ignorant and uninformed.” Technically, President Abraham Lincoln, who was a Republican, opposed slavery and signed the Emancipation Proclamation. And technically, the Republican Party did not support slavery, but at that point in time, it was not the Republican Party as we know it today.

Cannon is not the only person who has made claims like this. Back in 2016, Trevor Noah addressed these misconceptions on The Daily Show. “Every time I go onto Facebook I see these things: ‘Did you know the Democrats are the real racist party and did you know the Republicans freed the slaves?'” Noah said at the time, per USA Today. “A lot of people like to skip over the fact that when it comes to race relations, historically, Republicans and Democrats switched positions.”

So, yeah, Cannon’s information is not the most accurate or up-to-date.

He respects Trump.

“I f— with Trump,” Cannon said. “He [is] doing what he said he was gonna do…We got the Gulf of America now.” He also spoke highly of Trump’s so-called Gold Card, which grants U.S. residency to immigrants who make a $1 million “gift” to the government in addition to spending $15,000 on the application.

“He’s like the club,” he said. “He’s charging a $5 million bottle service fee to get into the country.” These are interesting priorities to have. However, critics called Cannon’s opinion of Trump “one of the least surprising things any of us will read today.” One Redditor said, “It’s always the ones you most suspect,” and while another added, “As well as the ones you least respect.”

“Well sure, they have so much in common,” another critic said. “Like most of their kids having different moms.” Someone else wrote, “washed up celebrity to maga pipeline strikes again.”

At the same time, Cannon claimed that he doesn’t actually support either political party.

So, while he seems to be on board with Trump’s Make America Great Again movement, he’s not necessarily voting Republican in every election. Speaking to Rose, Cannon said, “I mean, both you and I have some conservative views. You’re just a little bit more outspoken than I am. And honestly, I don’t subscribe to either party. I rock with W. E. B. Du Bois, when he said there’s no such thing as two parties. It’s just one evil party with two different names.”

Still, people were not impressed. “Cannon quoting W.E.B Dubious, a literal Marxist, and then simping for MAGA is nasty work,” one person noted. Someone else summed up Cannon’s political beliefs with, “Bro seems a little confused.”
