What to Know
Nicole Kidman’s daughter Sunday Rose Kidman Urban appeared to make a pretty harsh statement recently about her relationship with her father Keith Urban, following his shocking split from her mother last year and more recent news that he now has a 26-year-old girlfriend.
Sunday, 17, recently unfollowed her country star father on Instagram, the Daily Mail reported Monday. The U.K. tabloid took this gesture as a clear sign that the teenager is still unhappy that her country music star father apparently was the parent who broke up their family last year.
It’s also been reported for months that Sunday and her 15-year-old sister, Faith Margaret, have refused to meet their 58-year-old father’s rumored new girlfriend, up-and-coming country star Karley Scott Collins, who is 32 years his junior and nine years older than Sunday Rose.
Page Six confirmed the Daily Mail’s report about Sunday unfollowing her father, saying that this was the situation as of early Tuesday morning. Urban, on the other hand, continued to follow his daughter.
However, Page Six also noticed that the aspiring model was back to following her father several hours later. This is perhaps a sign that Sunday — or her publicist — saw the Daily Mail headline and didn’t want to fuel any drama.
But of course the drama has been brewing since last year, when Kidman, also 58, and Urban stunned fans by announcing last September that their marriage was over, ending a 19-year relationship that was widely regarded as one of Hollywood’s most stable.
Amid this news was plenty of speculation that Urban, not Kidman, wanted out of the marriage, especially when it was reported that the “Big Little Lies” star was “fighting to save the marriage” and to “hold the family together,” while Urban had already moved on by getting his own place in their hometown of Nashville, Tennessee.
Just four months after news broke of the split, Urban was linked to Collins. While Collins sought to deny such reports, entertainment and gossip writer Rob Shuter confirmed the new relationship. On his Naughty But Nice Substack, he also wrote that Sunday and Faith were still adjusting to their parents’ divorce and are “prioritizing their own healing over anything else.” To that end, they reportedly refused to meet Urban’s new girlfriend, as a sign of loyalty to their mother, Shuter said.
