Elderly Man Waits At Airport For 3 Days. When Staff Learn Why, They Decide To Step In

There are usually so many things happening within an airport terminal that most staff members have no choice but to remain focused on a single task at a time. This was not the case for the employees working at the airport in this story.

It had been several hours and Sarah, a young and ambitious airport employee, noted to herself that an older gentleman was still sitting in the same position she’d seen him in when she entered the terminal before her shift that morning.

Sarah felt like she should approach him, but she decided to wait and see if he displayed any signs that he required assistance. Sarah’s shift ended and when she came in the next morning, the old man was still sitting on that same bench just waiting in silence.

Due to her seniority, some of the other employees started to divulge to Sarah that they were becoming increasingly uncomfortable with the older man’s presence and if she didn’t go up to him and see what was keeping him in the airport for hours and hours, they were going to have security remove him.

Sarah approached the elderly man and asked him if there was anything she could do for him, but he simply shook his head. He wasn’t hurting anyone nor did she get a bad feeling from him, so she decided to just wait things out.

On his third day of waiting at the airport, the older gentleman called Sarah over and told her that he was waiting for his son to arrive home on a flight from Afghanistan. As soon as Sarah discovered this, she went to work to see what she could find out.
