A year after he suddenly died in the Dominican Republic, Ray Liotta's cause of death has been revealed. According to documents obtained by TMZ, the actor died from heart and respiratory issues. His death shocked many.
The documents cite pulmonary edema, respiratory insufficiency, and acute heart failure as the specific causes. Another underlying issue that was listed was atherosclerosis, which is a buildup of fats, cholesterol, and other substances in and on the artery walls.
The actor was 67 when he died in his sleep. He was filming Dangerous Waters at the time.

Ray is survived by his daughter, Karsen, and fiancé, Jacy Nittolo. The two were on location with him at the time of his death.
