Rena Sofer just got married — to her ex-husband Sanford Bookstaver. On what would've been their 21st wedding anniversary, the General Hospital star, 55, and Sanford celebrated their love by getting remarried seven years after their divorce. The couple originally tied the knot in 2003. They got divorced in 2017. However, in 2019, Rena took to Instagram to share that her ex-husband had proposed again.
Both Rena and Sanford posted on Instagram on Monday, May 20, 2024, to share that they have officially gotten married for the second time.
"This weekend on what would have been our 21st wedding anniversary I got to Re-Marry my best friend @sbookstaver once again!" Rena wrote on Instagram. She shared two photos from their special day.
"The journey we are about to begin is the most exciting adventure, in a new state and town, but most thrilling is that we get to do it together as husband and wife!" she continued.

She referred to the time that they spent separated as "humbling and heartbreaking but vital to us finding each other again" and said that "the love I have for [Sanford] now is the foundation of my life."
Calling her husband the "love of her life," she said she's "so grateful" that they decided to get married again.
"I can’t imagine another moment NOT walking through life with you hand in hand and our hearts entwined," she wrote.
Sanford shared the same photos on his Instagram account, writing that he and his wife "were divorced for a few years, spent time apart working on ourselves, and then came back together stronger than ever."
"I remarried my best friend and soulmate again! Life with you has never been better, and I’m the luckiest man alive to get to spend the rest of my life with you," he continued in his post.
On April 29, 2019, Rena posted on Instagram to share that she and Sanford were engaged. "What a weekend I’ve had!! HE ASKED ME AGAIN AND I SAID YES!!!" she wrote at the time.
"I have spent almost 19 years of my life with you and am so happy to spend the rest of my remaining years on this earth by your side," she continued.
She added that she "[doesn't] recommend divorce as a marriage counseling tool" but it happened to work in their case.
"I love you more than anything!!!!" she wrote at the time.
They share a daughter, Avalon, who was born in 2005. Rena also has another daughter, Rosabel Rosalind Kurth, from a previous marriage.
