Rosie O’Donnell does not have nice things to say about Jay Leno after watching Fit for TV: The Reality of the Biggest Loser. The new Netflix docuseries has brought many disturbing details about the weight loss competition show to light. Rosie took to Instagram to share her thoughts on some of the footage that she found particularly unsettling.
In the docuseries, former contestant Tracey Yukich looks back at a time when she appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. While Tracey was sitting next to him on the show, Jay Leno read death threats directed at her. Clearly disgusted by this, Rosie publicly called him out.
Sharing an image of Tracey’s confessional from the docuseries and then a screenshot of Tracey seated beside Jay, Rosie wrote, “jay leno is a mean a–hole #biggestloserdocumentary.”
Many of Rosie’s followers agreed. Reacting to her comment about the comedian, one person agreed that “him reading her her death threats was horrifying to watch.” A second person wrote, “He liked to punch down quite a bit. I haven’t watched the doc yet, but he was very mean.”
Several people noted that they really empathized with Tracey after watching the doc. “Her story was really intense and her bravery under those circumstances was incredible,” one of them commented. “If I ever met her, I’d love to tell her I’m proud of her and she’s a wonderful example of strength.”
Tracey appeared on Season 8 of The Biggest Loser. During the docuseries, she recalled how she experienced a medical emergency during a challenge on the show. “My organs were literally shutting down,” she said. “I didn’t realize that I had rhabdomyolysis. And rhabdomyolysis is your body’s way of saying, ‘I’m going to shut down on you.'” She added that she “almost died.”
In addition to criticizing Jay for how he treated Tracey, Rosie targeted Biggest Loser trainer Bob Harper as well. “ok now bob harper – can u not say IM SORRY – seriously- so hurtful- so cruel – come on bob – #biggestLOSERdoc,” she wrote on Instagram.
