Inside The Drowning Death Of Former NFL Quarterback Ryan Mallett, 35

Ryan Mallett, a former NFL quarterback, has been pronounced dead at the age of 35. Officials say he drowned in Destin, Florida, on June 27, 2023. He was on vacation with his girlfriend, Madison Carter, when the incident happened.

Prior to his death, Mallett worked as the head football coach at the White Hall School District in Arkansas. The school district made a post on Facebook confirming the news of his passing. “It is with great sadness that we share the loss of Coach Ryan Mallett,” the post shared. “Coach Mallett was a beloved coach and educator. We ask that you remember his family, team, students, fellow coaches, and the White Hall School District staff in your prayers.”

The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Department put out a statement as well. It stated that swimmers were spotted struggling to return to shore: "One of the individuals, an adult male, went under and lifeguards say he was not breathing when pulled out. Lifesaving measures were immediately undertaken but the man was pronounced deceased at the Destin Emergency Room."

"We send our heartfelt sympathies to his family, friends, and loved ones in his tragic passing," the release continued. Mallett previously played for the Arkansas Razorbacks, New England Patriots, Houston Texans, and Baltimore Ravens.
