After losing his home in the California wildfires, Spencer Pratt has shared raw updates in real time. The former Hills star and his wife, Heidi Montag, have posted continually about their situation since their Pacific Palisades burned to the ground. Recently, Spencer Pratt defended Mandy Moore amid GoFundMe backlash after she lost her home to the Los Angeles fires.
Although Spencer and Heidi played the part of the “villains” well in the mid-to-late 2000s reality TV show, they have since admitted to faking a lot of the drama at the instruction of producers to stay on the show. Speidi has since attracted an impressive social media following, thanks to their honest and funny content. And they used their influence to stick up for Mandy.

Mandy shared a link to a GoFunMe campaign after her brother-in-law lost his home in the wildfires.
On January 9, Mandy took to Instagram to help a family member amid the ongoing Los Angeles fires.
“Yesterday, my brother-in-law and sister-in-law Griff and Kit [Goldsmith] lost their home and everything they own in the Eaton Fire,” the A Walk to Remember star wrote. “With their first baby on the way in a matter of weeks, they need our support now more than ever.”
Mandy explained that Griff is a touring musician and lost “his entire arsenal of drums/percussion he uses to make a living.” She asked her followers to “please consider donating and sharing to help them rebuild,” also sharing a link to a GoFundMe campaign. As of writing, more than $200,000 had been raised.
In the same post, she later clapped back at critics.
Mandy later edited her Instagram post to send a direct message to critics.
“And people questioning whether we’re helping out our own family or attributing some arbitrary amount of money Google says someone has is NOT helpful or empathetic,” she wrote. “Of course we are. Our buddy Matt [Koma] started this go fund me [sic] and i’m sharing because people have asked how they can help them. We just lost most of our life in a fire too. Kindly F OFF. No one is forcing you to do anything.”
Spencer Pratt defended Mandy Moore in a TikTok video.
“Mandy Moore doesn’t do anything wrong,” he said, adding that he’s known her for 20 years. “If you were nice in 2004, you’re still nice in 2025. Like I’m talking so nice. So, don’t you dare come for Mandy Moore.”

Additionally, he called her a 'great human.'
“Maybe delete your content about Mandy Moore because Mandy Moore is a real one. She’s a great human,” Spencer continued in his TikTok video. “She’s not doing anything out of pocket. She’s posting GoFundMes. That’s great. She doesn’t have to pay for whoever. She’s got her own life, probably her own kids, so don’t you come for Mandy Moore.”
Mandy lost part of her house in the California fires, too.
On January 9, Mandy shared with her Instagram followers that she and her husband, Taylor Goldsmith, lost part of their home in the LA fires.
“We were able to park and walk up our street to bear witness to all the loss. Miraculously, the main part of our house is still standing. For now,” she wrote. “It’s not livable but mostly intact.”
Mandy continued, “Everyone we know lost everything. Every house on our street is gone. My in-laws. My brother and sister-in-law- 6 weeks from welcoming their first baby. Our best friends. Feeling weird survivor’s guilt. We love this community and will do everything we can to help rebuild and support. Thanks for everyone for checking on us and offering us help. Altadena strong.”
