Critics Call Out Tallulah Willis For Sharing Photos Of Dad Bruce Willis Amid FTD Battle

In 2022, Bruce Willis’ family announced that the actor had been diagnosed with aphasia. About a year later, they shared that he had received a more specific diagnosis: frontotemporal dementia, or FTD. Since then, Bruce’s relatives have shared periodic updates without disclosing too much personal information about Bruce or his current condition.

A recent post from one of Bruce’s daughters, however, seemed too personal to some critics. On June 22, 2025, Tallulah Willis shared several recent photos of Bruce on Instagram. While many of Tallulah’s followers really appreciated the update, some people told her that she should’ve kept the photos to herself.

“I don’t think you should expose your dad to the public!” one critic commented on the post. “He is vulnerable! And some things should be kept private! You don’t have his permission to post it!” Tallulah responded to the comment, acknowledging that she understands people’s concerns. She also explained why she decided to share the photos publicly.

“hi. I hear that,” Tallulah wrote back. “As a family we use our discretion when posting. Today was a great day filled with smiles. I made the judgement call to show that to the world, because I know what he means to everyone.”

Some Bruce Willis fans were outraged by the critics who suggested that Tallulah shouldn’t share photos of her father. “Hold on a second,” one fan chimed in. “Are some of you suggesting that just because she comes from a family of celebrities, she forfeits her right to publicly express profound love for her father?”

Addressing the critics, another person wrote: “You guys should be ashamed, it’s her father and family. He will be in the news regardless. Let her show everyone the love she has with her dad.”

Others urged people to withhold their judgment. “This is a family of pure love!” a third fan commented. “Unless anyone personally has taken care of a loved one in this kind of condition, you are in no way able to make judgement on someone else!”

Over the past couple of years, many fans have appreciated the updates Bruce’s loved ones have shared. In a vulnerable Father’s Day post, another of Bruce’s daughters, Rumer Willis, reflected on how her relationship with her dad has evolved due to his FTD diagnosis.

“I feel a deep ache in my chest to talk to you and tell you everything I’m doing and what’s going on in my life,” Rumer wrote. “To hug you and ask you about life and your stories and struggles and successes. I wish I asked you more questions while you could still tell me about it all.”

Though occasions like Father’s Day are “hard” for her now, she’s also “grateful.”

“I know you wouldn’t want me to be sad today so I’ll try to just be grateful reminding myself how lucky I am that you’re my dad and that you’re still with me and I can still hold you and hug you and kiss your cheek and rub your head I can tell you stories,” she continued. “I can watch the way your eyes light up when you see Louetta I will be grateful for every moment I have with you.”
