Tamar Braxton Breaks Her Silence After Surviving Her Confirmed Suicide Attempt

In this video shared by the Tamron Hall show, the host sits down with reality TV star Tamar Braxton for her first interview after surviving a suicide attempt.

Tamron shares that when she woke up one morning in July 2020 and saw Tamar’s name trending, she just assumed that it was related to run-of-the-mill celebrity gossip. She then saw the headlines starting to appear that said Tamar had been taken to the hospital after surviving a suicide attempt.

Tamar starts out by sharing that she’s feeling good now after living a “facade” for a long time. She defines “good” as feeling much better than she did before, and she knows that with the struggles she’s experienced and the critical signs to watch out for, she acknowledges when she’s not doing OK.

“Mental illness is a real situation and it has to be taken very [seriously],” Tamar shares.

She goes on to divulge that she had been lying to herself and others about being OK doing reality television, including Braxton Family Values and her spinoff series, Tamar Braxton: Get Ya Life!

Tamar notes that she was doing things that were contractually obligated and she never actually wanted to star in the spinoff series, but she was pressured into it by the television network she worked for.

“I already felt dead. I felt choked every single day. It was about feeling like I could never be myself and being misunderstood,” Tamar explains.
