Everyone has someone they idolize. It can be an author, an athlete, or even an actor. It is amazing and heartwarming when your hero turns out to be just as good as a person as you always dreamed they were. For one brave cancer patient Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson came through in a big way.
Dwayne surprised 12-year-old Luna Perrone during lunch at Hotel Bel Air in Los Angeles. He dressed up as one of the waiters and served her food. Luna was beside herself with joy and could not believe this was real life.
Dwayne orchestrated this whole surprise, which occurred on Sunday, July 23, 2023. He told Luna’s parents he set up a fancy lunch for them, but unfortunately he could not attend. The perfect surprise setup.
Dwayne posted a video about the special fan encounter on his Instagram account. “Luna is so special,” he stated. “She’s one of the strongest girls on the planet. She’s been battling cancer for a few years now and I’m going to take her food out to her and surprise her.” Luna has a rare form of bone cancer.

Dwayne did not stop there. He also gave the family Disneyland tickets. What a special day for this young cancer warrior.
“Coolest thing EVER happened yesterday,” Luna gushed on Instagram. “I got to meet my hero, THE ROCK! It was the best day!!! My family and I had lunch at the Bel Air Hotel and DJ served me my meal…he came out from the kitchen and surprised me!! I was shocked and so excited it was so amazing to meet him after so many years of watching his movies and looking up to him!”
The Rock was equally honored to meet Luna. He said of all the jobs he's had, “being Luna’s waiter might just be the coolest.”
