Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen ended their marriage about four years ago at this point, yet it continues to be a hot topic. In recent months, there’s been a lot of talk about Gisele’s current relationship, especially now that she and her husband, Joaquim Valente, have welcomed a child together.
Certain things Tom has done (like his seemingly pointed yet cryptic social media posts) have raised questions about how he’s been processing all of this. And now, a new book makes it sound like Tom and Gisele’s split was actually messier than everyone realized.
The former couple announced the end of their 13-year marriage in October 2022.
At the time, multiple reports alleged that Tom was far too focused on his football career for Gisele’s liking. However, during an interview with Vanity Fair in 2023, Gisele denied this, claiming that his football career was “one piece of a much bigger puzzle.” The tabloid reports about their divorce were devoid of nuance, she explained. In reality, their marriage did not fall apart overnight. And she is not “against football,” either.
Instead, it seems like their priorities shifted and they grew apart. “When I was 26 years old and he was 29 years old, we met, we wanted a family, we wanted things together,” she explained at the time. “As time goes by, we realize that we just wanted different things, and now we have a choice to make. That doesn’t mean you don’t love the person.”
A new report alleges that Gisele told Tom they were no longer compatible.
Which doesn’t sound dramatically different from what Gisele previously described, given that she said, “Sometimes you grow together; sometimes you grow apart.” At the same time, the new report makes it sound like her delivery was especially brutal. In a forthcoming book titled “Brady: An American Story and the Price of Greatness,” author Lars Anderson suggested that Gisele announced that she was done with the marriage with just a few words: “We’re not compatible,” per the Daily Mail.
The author made the whole thing sound shockingly abrupt. “One day, Gisele, who is really into astrology, basically looked into the stars and told Tom, ‘We’re not compatible,'” an insider reportedly told the author.
“And just like that, she was done,” the author wrote.
The author also claims that Gisele wanted Tom to prioritize his family.
In the book, Lars makes Gisele sound like an overwhelmed mom who was in need of more support. “She needed him to be present when he was at home, not responding to text messages on his constantly buzzing cell phone or replaying a game in his mind,” the author alleged. He claimed that Gisele had multiple needs that were not being met in her marriage, including “more help with the kids,” “more time for her own career,” and, you know, “the chance to sleep in just a few days a week.”
According to the author, Gisele seemed to want Tom to retire, but he allegedly told her that he was “having too much.” And if that’s truly the case, it doesn’t exactly sound like Gisele just suddenly decided they were incompatible.
