Tom Brady Regrets How The Netflix Roast Impacted His Kids: ‘I Wouldn’t Do That Again’

On May 5, 2024, Tom Brady took part in a good-natured but brutal Netflix roast. No topics were off limits, which didn’t bother Tom until he found out how this impacted his kids. Some of the jokes about his marriage and divorce from Gisele Bündchen were not easy for them to hear.

Tom opened up about this on the May 14 episode of The Pivot Podcast. He confessed he regrets how the roast made his kids feel. He learned his lesson and won’t do anything like that again.

Tom is a father of three. He shares John "Jack" Edward Thomas, 16, with ex-girlfriend Bridget Moynahan. He shares Benjamin Rein and Vivian Lake wit ex-wife Gisele Bündchen. Gisele and Tom divorced in 2022, so the wounds are still fresh for everyone involved.

Tom can take a joke, what he can’t handle is hurting those he loves. "I loved when the jokes were about me I thought they were so fun," he explained. "I didn't like the way that affected my kids. So it's the hardest part about, like, the bittersweet aspect of when you do something that you think is one way, and then all of a sudden you realize I wouldn't do that again because of the way that affected actually the people that I care about the most in the world."

Tom believes hindsight is always 20/20. "I wanted to do the roast because the guy Jeff Ross became someone that I knew, and then you just don't see the full picture all the time,” he explained. “So I think it's a good lesson for me as a parent. I'm going to be a better parent as I go forward because of it, and at the same time, I'm happy everyone who was there had a lot of fun.”
