Several awkward moments involving President Donald Trump at the G7 summit have gone viral on social media. At one point, he spent far too long shaking Brigitte Macron’s hand. At another point, he got distracted by a “handsome” reporter while he was sitting down with another world leader. And then, during another uncomfortable moment, people noticed that he looked pretty… lonely.
A viral photo from the G7 summit in France shows world leaders chatting with each other as Trump just stands there looking excluded. It doesn’t exactly make him look well-liked.

Or, at least, they had no interest in talking to him. An X account called @covie_93 shared the image on the platform and captioned it with, “A picture is worth a thousand words….”
And, yeah, a lot of people saw it as the perfect visual representation of what is going on in the world right now. While the photo looked pretty embarrassing, Trump critics said that if people really were avoiding him, he’s definitely to blame for that.
“All alone on a world stage; his own doing,” one person wrote in response. Someone sarcastically said, “Why, he looks all alone and ignored. I can’t possibly understand why. . .”

Some of his apparent supporters argued that the photo was probably just captured during a brief, awkward moment. They accused the person who shared the photo on X of cherry-picking a moment that suited their narrative and taking it out of context. A few of them also argued that Trump clearly did have positive interactions with other world leaders at the G7 summit.
Regardless, Trump really did look left out in that moment, and that’s what most people were reacting to. “There’s always one guy at the party who got invited out of pity, but no one wants to talk to him,” a commenter wrote.
“You know they are laughing at him behind his back,” someone else speculated.
And because Trump’s image really seems to matter to him, some of his critics hoped that the photo would get to him. “I can only hope he is self-aware enough to be horribly embarrassed and deeply humiliated by this,” another person added.
But, of course, some people made it about dementia.
Although the majority of commenters thought Trump looked excluded from everyone’s conversations, several people said he looked confused, almost as if he were the only person who didn’t know what was going on at that moment.
Because he just recently celebrated his 80th birthday and has been dealing with dementia rumors throughout his second term, some commenters saw the photo as another potential sign of dementia.
Someone noted that he looked “lost,” while another commenter wrote, “Does he even know where he is?”
Perhaps Trump’s confusion was more apparent in this setting, since it’s not what he’s used to, one person suggested. “I look at this photo and see a man with dementia standing there alone not knowing what to do,” they wrote. “He has been managed by ppl around him in the US. Here you see the reality of dementia.”
