What to Know
A fundraising email sent to President Donald Trump’s supporters has him looking a bit desperate. For one thing, people found the subject line creepy: “I’m alone and in the dark.” Um, OK? But that is certainly one way to get people’s attention. Liberal commentator Harry Sisson shared screenshots of the email on social media, and people almost didn’t believe it was real.
Harry captioned the post with, “Trump sent this creepy email to his supporters last night saying he’s ‘alone and in the dark’ and he’s writing the message from a ‘dying laptop.’ The only way to help him is to donate your money to him. Disgusting grift. Very weird!”
So, what exactly did the email say?
According to the screenshots shared by Harry, the email read, “Some people are saying: This is SAD! I’m sitting here. Alone. In the war room. Fighting for you. The rest of the staff went home hours ago. It’s just me, one dying laptop, and the 72-hour countdown clock to my first mid-month deadline of the year just RANG.”
And while several social media users argued that Trump clearly didn’t write it himself (some critics aren’t convinced that he actually knows how to use a laptop), it was clearly meant to sound like the president penned it. The email continued with, “If we don’t crush my first mid-month deadline of the year, the radical Left flips the House and Senate in 2026 and finishes what they started.” According to the email, the “radical Left” will “open borders forever,” confiscate guns, and brainwash children if people don’t give Trump money.
“And worst of all, your favorite President (ME!) might just go through another FAKE impeachment!” the email continued.

People found it weird for a number of reasons.
To some critics, the email served as a reminder that “the grift never ends” for the Trump family. Someone on X wrote, “he wrote that several days ago i guess he keeps grifting everyday!” But aside from that, why was Trump alone in the dark? “What, did he not pay the power bill?” one person joked. And another critic chimed in with, “Doesn’t he know how to turn a light on?” People also had questions about his alleged laptop. Someone else wrote, “Who’s going to tell him he can plug the laptop in?”
Critics called the email “pathetic,” “nauseating”, and “sick,” but others weren’t all that surprised by it because “grifters will grift…….” Several people argued that it sounded like a scam email or something written by an intern rather than Trump himself, but regardless, the email seemed pretty “unhinged.”
