Trump’s Weird Story About A Muscular Man Is Even Wilder Than You’d Imagine

President Donald Trump confuses people on a regular basis, but a recent story of his feels even more “outrageous” than usual. There are a lot of layers to it, and while the story was kind of all over the place, a key detail stood out to a lot of people online: Trump once again focused on how muscular the man at the center of the story was. Muscular men appear to be his latest obsession, for some reason.

During a speech at a Mack Trucks facility in Pennsylvania on June 23, Trump told a story about a police officer whose “muscles were all over the place.” According to Trump, this unnamed police officer had a wife who wasn’t feeling super satisfied in their marriage. Trump seemingly couldn’t quite understand why a woman would have any issue with such a fit man.

But Trump went on to say that the issue had something to do with money.

The story went like this: “I was in New York, and I met a great police officer in New York. He said, ‘Sir, I want to thank you,'” Trump claimed. “I said, ‘For what?’ He said, ‘My wife didn’t think very much of me. We were having marital difficulties, actually. She thought I was nothing. I’m a police officer. I’m a tough guy.'”

Trump continued, “I looked at him—the muscles were all over the place. He didn’t suffer from that, but she thought maybe that muscle wasn’t so good because he was always losing money in the stock market.”

To some critics on social media, this story sounded kind of like Trump’s weird fan fiction. But it didn’t end there.

Trump tried to frame it as some kind of success story.

According to him, this police officer went from “always losing money” and having an unhappy wife to being perceived as a successful “super genius” who no longer thinks his wife is good enough for him. OK.

“And he said, ‘Sir, in the last year and a half, my 401(k) is up 74%, sir, and she thinks I’m Warren Buffett. She thinks I’m a super genius,'” Trump continued. “I said, ‘How are you getting along with her?’ He said, ‘Well, I’m not so sure I like her anymore.'”

On social media, critics were immediately skeptical that this interaction ever even happened. “This clown has the worst made up stories I’ve ever heard,” one critic commented on X. “He doesn’t even attempt to make them sound plausible in any way.”

Someone else said, “It’s getting a bit ridiculous. Can we please focus on real policies instead of these weird, made up police officer fan fictions?”

They also questioned why Trump focused so much on the police officer’s muscles.

“Here is another thing that never happened,” another critic commented. “The ‘sir’ is a tell. It is interesting to me how obsessed Trump is with muscular men, though. He really likes talking about their physiques.”

Although most critics assumed this interaction never happened in the first place, some noted that if this police officer was even real, Trump seemed weirdly interested in his muscles. “So the first thing he noticed was the cops muscles huh….” someone else wrote.

Others pointed out that Trump has told stories like this one many times before — with minor changes. “Trump has been telling this same lie for years; the place, & the man’s profession keep changing and his muscles keep getting bigger,” one critic claimed.

Men’s muscles actually came up at another point during Trump’s speech. When praising UFC athletes, Trump said, “These are the strongest, toughest men on Earth. No women in the crowd, which is nice. But these are the toughest men on Earth, and it’s tremendous pressure. You know the muscles? You guys got the big, strong muscles, but you got this muscle to [points at head].”
