What to Know
Just before King Charles’ state visit to the United States, Prince Harry risked making things awkward for the British royal family by making a comment about President Donald Trump. Trump acted like he didn’t really care about what Harry had to say, but a recent report suggests otherwise.
Apparently, during King Charles’ state visit, Trump made a joke about Harry, according to a new report.
Previously, Harry called on “American leadership” to do something.
He didn’t name Trump directly while speaking at the Kyiv Security Forum in Ukraine on April 23, just days before his estranged father’s trip to the U.S. He was discussing the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war and the role the U.S. has played in it. “The United States has a singular role in this story,” Harry said. “Not only because of its power, but because when Ukraine gave up nuclear weapons, America was part of the assurance that Ukraine’s sovereignty and borders would be respected.”
“This is a moment for American leadership,” he added. “A moment for America to show that it can honor its international treaty obligations, not out of charity, but out of its own enduring role in global security and strategic stability.”
A reporter asked Trump how he felt about Harry’s comments.
Before actually answering the question, Trump said, “Prince Harry? How’s he doing? How’s his wife? Please give her my regards, OK?” (He previously said he would not deport Prince Harry because he already has to put up with his “terrible” wife, so he doesn’t want to add more to his plate).
Trump then argued that Prince Harry clearly wasn’t speaking on behalf of the United Kingdom. “I know one thing,” he said. “Prince Harry is not speaking for the U.K. That’s for sure. I think I’m speaking for the U.K. more than Prince Harry. But I appreciate his advice very much. Great advice.”
However, it seems like Harry’s comments have bothered him more than he let on.

According to a new report from the Daily Mail, Prince Harry came up in conversation when King Charles was visiting the White House. Allegedly, Trump joked about Harry returning to the U.K. by saying, “Can you take him back?” (per RadarOnline).
It’s unclear how King Charles felt about this alleged joke if Trump really did say this. However, it’s definitely not the only questionable thing that Trump said or did while with King Charles and Queen Camilla. Trump critics on social media have pinpointed several instances in which Trump appeared to make Charles and/or Camilla uncomfortable.
At one point, Trump made a joke about how his mother had a crush on King Charles. He also seemed to jump right in front of Queen Camilla to shake people’s hands, which people online found extremely inconsiderate and embarrassing.
At the same time, it’s been said that King Charles doesn’t exactly love the way his estranged son has commented on the Trump administration. An insider previously told commentator Rob Shuter that some of Prince Harry’s comments have made King Charles “deeply uncomfortable.”
