Tucker Carlson has had a lot to say about his former employer, but most recently he’s blamed Fox News for making him “fat.” The former television host opened up about how his job caused him to gain weight.
During an interview with Clayton Morris on The Tucker Carlson Show, the two men discussed their history with Fox News. Clayton, who left the network voluntarily, explained that the stress of the job was getting to him and it was time to move on.
“I had been in morning television for like 20 years,” Clayton told Tucker, “and you know how miserable that is. People get cancer regularly.”
“Well, I just got fat,” Tucker quipped. “It’s incredibly hard physically, everything about it is, hardest job I ever had.”

While it’s safe to say the job didn’t make Tucker fat, the stress may have contributed to his weight gain. According to the Cleveland Clinic, long-term stress can make you gain weight.
Tucker was fired from Fox News in 2023, after he criticized management in private text messages that were exposed. Rupert Murdoch, Chairman of the Fox Corporation, claimed that he was terminated because of his coverage of the January 6 insurrection and a pending lawsuit from a female producer. At the time, Fox News issued the following statement: “Fox News Media and Tucker Carlson have agreed to part ways. We thank him for his service to the network as a host and prior to that as a contributor.”
In the years since, Tucker has been critical of the network. Recently, his criticism has ramped up. “This is really the first time I’ve attacked them,” he told Clayton Morris during their interview.
