
Ted Kaczynski, also known as the Unabomber, has died while in prison for his crimes. Kaczynski was found unresponsive in his cell at the Federal Medical Center in Butner, North Carolina. As reported by the Associated Press, Kaczynski had late-stage cancer when he died.
Kaczynski famously went on a bombing spree between 1975 and 1995 that left three people dead and 23 injured. He was turned in by his brother and sister-in-law.
Kaczynski was arrested on April 3, 1996, while at his cabin in Montana. He ultimately pleaded guilty to all charges against him to receive a life sentence without the possibility of parole.
He spent 20 years at the Supermax prison in Colorado before moving to North Carolina in November 2021.
The FBI spent several years investigating the bombings before Kaczynski was turned in.

Kaczynski was celebrated as a child, having skipped two grades. He was accepted into Harvard at the age of 16 and was working as an assistant professor at the University of California at Berkeley when he quit out of nowhere and moved to Montana. While living in his cabin, he built bombs and mailed them to his victims.
