What to Know
Vanna White married her longtime partner John Donaldson in an unanticipated wedding, she revealed Wednesday on social media.
“Surprise! We got married!” the Wheel of Fortune host wrote on Instagram. “John and I have been in love for more than a decade and a little while back, we wanted to make it official in a private ceremony. We’re excited to share this new joyful chapter in our lives with all of you!”
The post included a photo of Donaldson carrying White, who’s wearing a sparkling white dress. It also included previous snaps from their 14-year relationship.
White, 68, was asked about marriage just last month in an interview with E! News and downplayed the idea.
“Maybe people want to see us get married,” she told the outlet. “When you’ve been with someone for so long, you kind of feel like you’re already married. You don’t have to have that piece of paper.”
She expressed the same sentiment in an interview two years earlier with People magazine, explaining that her bond with Donaldson was so tight that they didn’t need to get married to prove it.
“Do we have to get married? No, because we feel comfortable in our relationship,” she said at the time. “I know that he’s the one. He knows I’m the one.”
Donaldson, who owns a construction and development company in California, is White’s second husband. She was previously married to restaurant owner George Santo Pietro from 1990 to 2002. The former couple shares two children, son Nikko, 31, and daughter Gigi, 28.
