Wheel of Fortune contestant Max McGee won a Mustang convertible on the Thursday, March 14, 2024, episode of the show, and some fans think he simply got lucky. Because another contestant made a simple mistake, Max made it to the bonus round after correctly solving the puzzle that read _ , _ _ _ T _ N _ , _ _ , T_ _ , _ _ N _ _
The category was "Phrase," and another contestant, Patricia, was so close to having the right answer. She guessed “A MEETING OF THE MIND!”
But unfortunately, the correct answer was “A MEETING OF THE MINDS," with an "S."
The fact that Patricia was just barely incorrect gave Max the chance to guess — and also made it easier to guess the correct answer.
One fan on X even insisted that Max "COULDN'T have done it on his own!" They wrote that Max "definitely STOLE it from Patricia!"
Host Pat Sajak acknowledged that Patricia was close. “That was a terrific guess, and I am so sorry. One letter got ya there,” he said. "On the bright side, Patricia was able to walk away with the $4,000 she had remaining.”
But Max, on the other hand, advanced to the bonus round.

In the bonus round, Max had to solve another "Phrase," and once he was presented with the board that read "_ E, _ RE, _ O_ _ _ N_, _ OR_ _ RD," he was able to guess the correct answer: “WE ARE MOVING FORWARD!”
