White House Lashes Out At Joy Behar After She Makes A Joke About Donald Trump

Once again, the White House is mad at Joy Behar. At this point, the Trump administration has beef with various talk show hosts and a myriad of other celebrities. Instead of hearing jokes and political commentary and moving on (and maybe worrying about more pressing concerns), the Trump administration has been known to issue statements and criticize people (often giving them nicknames as well). This is exactly what happened when Behar made a joke about herpes during a recent episode of The View.

The co-hosts on the show were talking about the war in Iran.

The View played footage of President Donald Trump saying, “They gave us a present, and the present arrived today. It was a very big present worth a tremendous amount of money.” He was referring to his alleged negotiations with Iran. Reacting to that clip, Behar joked, “And what’s the gift, besides herpes?”

Beyond making that joke, Behar also made her skepticism abundantly clear when guest co-host Abby Huntsman said that what the U.S. military has “accomplished (in Iran) is incredible.” Behar responded, “What have they accomplished over there? Explain to me.”

Huntsman said, “I think it’s really easy to sit here and say, ‘What has the military accomplished?’ It’s because of our military that we’re able to sit here and have these conversations and do a show like this.” Behar reminded Huntsman that she was talking about the Iran war specifically. “Don’t make it sound like I’m against the military. I’m not. All my uncles, my father, they all fought, so don’t make it sound like that,” she said. “I’m talking about this particular, as he calls it, excursion into Iran. What have they accomplished so far?”

So, basically, she made some jokes and shared her opinions on what’s happening right now.

In response, the White House claimed that “The View” is “poorly rated.”

Of course, Trump administration officials tend to say this about all the shows they don’t like, whether it’s true or not. In a statement shared with Entertainment Weekly, White House spokesperson Davis Ingle called Behar “an extremely unlikeable, talentless hack” and said she “clearly suffers from a severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome.” Because how dare she express her opinion?

The White House spokesperson also defended Trump’s war in Iran. “President Trump is working tirelessly every single day to ensure the American military continues to be the greatest, most powerful fighting force in the world that will crush our enemies and defend our great nation,” Ingle said.

In the statement, the spokesperson didn’t call refer to her by her name. Instead, he called her “Joyless Behar,” a nickname they seemingly gave her last year when they were mad about something else she said.

The White House has shared statements about Behar several times at this point.

In July 2025, the Trump administration was mad when Behar joked about Trump being jealous of Former President Barack Obama. At the time, a White House spokesperson said, “It’s no surprise that The View’s ratings hit an all-time low last year. She should self-reflect on her own jealousy of President Trump’s historic popularity before her show is the next to be pulled off-air.” But would the comment really bother Trump so much if he weren’t jealous of Obama?

The following month, the White House said Behar should leave the country. “Our country is better off with Rosie (O’Donnell) living abroad — and we can all hope ‘Joyless’ Behar will join her next!” a spokesperson said. Because, yes, that’s definitely how someone who is totally unbothered would react.
