White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, seems to make headlines weekly if not daily, thanks to President Donald Trump and the many controversies he’s been involved in even just since taking office for his second term in January. However, she doesn’t often get personal, and rarely discusses her family and marriage.
But, to the surprise of some, she did just that in a recent interview with Megyn Kelly. And it turns out, hers is an age-gap marriage. Leavitt is 27 and her husband, Nicholas Riccio, is 59. More than 30 years is a whopping age difference, so it’s no surprise Kelly thought to address it.
“I mean it’s a very atypical love story, but he’s incredible,” Leavitt told the broadcaster.
“He’s the father of my child and he’s the best dad I could ever ask for,” she continued. “And he is so supportive, especially during a very chaotic period of life. I say, ‘I walked into your life and it’s been a circus ever since,’ but God bless him because he’s fully on board.”
Riccio was reportedly homeless at one point in his life, but is now at the helm of a real estate empire that has helped him build a net worth of about $6 million, per The Economic Times.
The pair met while Leavitt was running for Congress in New Hampshire in 2022, she shared. And per People, they got engaged around Christmas in 2023.
“A mutual friend of ours hosted an event at a restaurant that he owns up in New Hampshire and invited my husband,” she said. ‘I was speaking. We met and we were acquainted as friends, and then we fell in love.”
The couple now shares one son, Nicholas Robert Riccio, who was born on July 10, 2024.
