Yvette Nicole Brown Called Susan Sarandon A ‘Horrible Woman’ Who Helped Trump Get Elected

Susan Sarandon says she’s essentially been blacklisted in Hollywood due to supporting Palestine, but Yvette Nicole Brown doesn’t feel sorry for her. Yvette actually sees Susan as a “horrible woman” who helped President Donald Trump get elected in 2016.

Susan did not actually vote for Trump, but in 2016, she urged people to consider supporting third party candidates instead of voting for Trump or Hillary Clinton. And according to Yvette, “Bernie Bros and Gals” like Susan are partly responsible for the current state of the United States.

Susan vocally supported Bernie Sanders.

Then, when it came to the actual presidential election in 2016, she endorsed Jill Stein, claiming that a “third party is necessary and viable at this time.” She also wrote, “Fear of Donald Trump is not enough for me to support Clinton, with her record of corruption. Now that Trump is self-destructing, I feel even those in swing states have the opportunity to vote their conscience,” per The Week.

Some people have argued that this was a pretty privileged take. At the same time, she’s far from the only person who thought Trump wouldn’t actually win in 2016. People were even more bothered by the actress, however, when she seemed to double down on her actions and comments after Trump won. In 2017, she told The Guardian that she was “flattered” by some of the criticism directed at her. “I mean, it’s very flattering to think that I, on my own, cost the election,” she said. “That my little voice was the deciding factor.”

More recently, Susan spoke about not getting roles due to her support for Palestine.

A clip shared on Threads shows Susan talking about how she’s struggled to get roles. “I was fired by my agency, specifically for marching and speaking out about Gaza, for asking for a ceasefire,” she said. “It became impossible for me to even be on television. I don’t know lately if it’s changed, and I couldn’t do any major film, anything connected with, you know, Hollywood.”

And while some people who reacted to the clip thought it was awful that she couldn’t appear on TV or in films for this reason, Yvette didn’t shed a single tear. She made that very clear in her response to the clip.

Yvette said Susan has “never taken responsibility” for what happened in 2016.

She did not mince her words. “I have zero tears for this horrible woman,” she wrote in response to the clip of Susan. “She is partly responsible for where we are as a country and the global embarrassment we’ve become because she and her fellow Bernie Bros and Gals made it their mission to ensure that Hillary Clinton lost to Trump in 2016.”

She added, “She’s never taken responsibility for her part in our demise.”

Yvette also called Susan out for her privilege and implied that she really couldn’t care less that she’s facing setbacks in her acting career. “I hope life continues to be as hard for her as she’s helped make it for the marginalized people hurt the most by her privileged, chaotic shenanigans,” she concluded.

Reactions to what Yvette said were mixed.

Some people thought Yvette was being harsh because Susan didn’t singlehandedly get Trump elected. “Nobody voted for Trump because Susan f—ing Sarandon told them to vote for Bernie,” someone argued. Another person added, “Blaming Bernie Sanders or his supporters is immature nonsense.”

But many others agreed with Yvette. “I totally agree,” one commenter wrote in response. “She helped bring this nightmare to us.” The way Susan doubled down after the fact is what really got to some people. “I was angry with her at the time, but if she had admitted later that she was wrong— that Hillary would have been far better for the country than Trump— I would have gotten over it,” another commenter added.

And others also called Susan out for being less affected by the Trump administration’s policies due to her privilege. “Funny how it’s always the people who aren’t worried about where their next paycheck is coming from who are fine with burning everything down,” someone else added. “And she’ll never realize or admit the role she played in people turning against her.”

The way one critic sees it, Susan seems to be “on her victimhood tour” at the moment.
