5th Grader Saves Classmate Choking On A Grape, Then Officers Show Up To Honor Him

For parents sending their kids off to school each year, it's important to feel that they can trust the staff to take care of their child. No matter what may happen throughout the day, their kid should always be safe in the school building.

It is this trust that allows parents to part with their little one's each morning and breathe easily throughout the day.

But what parents may not count on is the ability of another child to come to the rescue in the event of an emergency. That's exactly what happened when fifth grader Liam Ryan began choking on a grape during his lunch period.

Ryan had put the grape in his mouth and taken a sip of milk when the grape became lodged in his throat.

Thankfully, his friend Mi'Sean Graham was close by and immediately sprung into action. Graham leapt over two other students to reach Ryan, and began administering the Heimlich maneuver.

Despite the fact that he'd never practiced the life-saving move before, he successfully dislodged the grape from Ryan's throat and the boy was totally fine.

Today, Graham is just thankful that his friend is still around and that the situation turned out fine.

As for Ryan's parents, they will never forget the life-saving actions of their's son's friend.
