Adam and Jackie met on the set of Big Daddy in 1998. Jackie was working on getting her acting career off the ground. Adam was enjoying film success just years after being let go from the cast of Saturday Night Live. The two met and sparks flew. Decades later, they have a beautiful marriage and a beautiful family. They are parents to two daughters, 14-year-old Sadie and 11-year-old Sunny.
A number of Adam's on-screen love interests, including Drew Barrymore and Salma Hayek, celebrated the very loved couple in the comments of the post.
Adam Sandler and his wife, Jackie, have one of the great, strong Hollywood marriages of our time. The couple recently celebrated 22 years together. Adam marked the occasion with a sweet Instagram tribute to his lady.
"22 years ago today we locked eyes and fell deep," Adam wrote in a post sharing throwback photos of himself and Jackie from the early days of their relationship.
"Look forward to the next 22, young lady. Love you my forever girl."
Adam and Jackie met in 1998 on the set of Big Daddy. At the time, Adam was enjoying success in movies on the tail of Happy Gilmore and The Waterboy. Jackie, an up-and-coming actress and model, scored a small role as a waitress who takes Sonny's order at a sports bar.
By the time the movie was released, Adam and Jackie had begun dating. The spark between them had a feeling of something serious from the start. The following year, in 2000, Jackie began the process of converting to Judaism for him.
The couple got engaged shortly after that. In an interview with Diane Sawyer, he recalled getting ready for the big moment.
"I played basketball that afternoon, trying to calm down, and then I was driving, I was saying the stuff out loud and trying to, you know, make sure I hit all of the right things so she would remember nice stuff, and I did all right," he said.
"She called her grandmother right after, and her mother, and they all said, yeah, I heard the applause over the phone and stuff."
Adam and Jackie tied the knot on June 22, 2003, at Dick Clark's oceanfront Malibu estate. They were married in a lavish wedding with over 400 guests. Adam's dog, Meatball, served as their best man in the sweet, family-filled affair.
Three years after their wedding, the couple welcomed their first child. Their daughter, Sadie, was born on May 6, 2006. Their family grew again a few years later. They welcomed another daughter, Sunny, on November 2, 2008.
In a 2014 interview published on HuffPost Contributor, Adam shared how being parents had changed their lives:
"Last night, my wife and I were falling asleep at 8 and we said, 'No, we're not giving into this sleep. Maybe we should go see a movie after the kids fall asleep.' Well, the kids weren't falling. I'm in one room saying, 'Twenty more minutes until they fall asleep. The next thing I know, I walk out of that room and my wife and my other daughter are curled up sleeping. I'm up half the night with the other one. Welcome to parenthood."
Adam and Jackie both continue to enjoy their acting careers. Jackie gets along famously with Adam's costars, especially their dear friend Drew Barrymore.
"It's like the best thing that my wife loves Drew so much that she like encourages me," he told Ellen DeGeneres.
"There's no jealousy at all. She's just like, 'Get in there!' … We're [Adam and Drew] doing a nice romantic scene and I think I'm doing pretty great being as romantic as I can be and then like — Okay, moving on, let's go, that was great, Drew. Good job. And I'm walking away and I just see my wife like (shaking her head) … 'What's the matter?' [And she says] 'Just please, for the sake of women, get in there and just look a little more alive.'"
Drew, along with some of Adam's other on-screen love interests, flocked to his anniversary post and celebrated the couple.
"You are the greatest couple and I love you both so much. And your girls!!!!" Drew wrote.
"Congratulations You are one lucky guy. She is absolutely an extraordinary woman May that beautiful love ❤️ of yours go on forever ♾ ," Salma Hayek added.
