Jennifer Lopez And Alex Rodriguez Gleefully Announce The Newest Addition To Their Growing Family

Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez may have had to postpone their wedding due to closures because of the health care crisis, but they're very much living as a family.

The couple added a new member to their family last week. They took to Instagram to share their new addition, a goldendoodle puppy. The cutie was a gift for Jennifer's son, Max. The 12-year-old looked totally psyched to get a new buddy.

Alex joked that the new pup made him a grandad in the caption of his photo. He also asked fans for suggestions as they still haven't named the cutie. They even made the adorable puppy an Instagram account of his own, which already has over 14,000 followers.

This sweet moment from the family is no surprise. Jennifer and Alex have been open about how blending their families has always been an important component of their relationship. They've been incredibly successful at it, from the looks of the many family moments they share online.

Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez have added a new member to their family. The couple took to Instagram to share news of their new puppy, a goldendoodle gifted to 12-year-old Max. Max and twin sister Emme are Jennifer's kids shared with ex-husband Marc Anthony.

"Welcome to the fam, @tbdpupofficial!" Jennifer captioned a video of the playful puppy and her kids.

"We got Max this adorable lil golden doodle and we haven't named him yet! ✨What should we name this cutie!? Tyson or Yankee? All will be revealed soon! ."

Alex shared a photo of himself, Jennifer, Max, and Emme with the new puppy. The picture also featured the new puppy's sibling, the family's dog, Lady.

"We surprised Max yesterday with a new puppy, a Goldendoodle. So cute, but there's one thing left to decide … his name! We are having a family debate and would love your help!" Alex captioned the photo.

"It's between these two names: Tyson or Yankee Doodle??? Let us know what you think! Thanks! #LadyGotaBrother #ImAGranddad."

The family made the new puppy his own Instagram account. The account already has over 14,000 followers.

"Welcome to my official Pup Insta! Woof Woof! I love my grandmama @JLo and granddaddy @arod."

Many of Alex's fans hope that the family will name the dog Yankee Doodle. Yankee feels like a special nod to Alex's former team that baseball fans simply can't resist. After all, he is a goldendoodle.

Alex and Jennifer have been having serious conversations with all their children lately. That includes Alex's daughters, Natasha and Ella. They've been among the celebrity parents emphasizing the importance of having difficult discussions with kids about current events.

Jennifer recently shared that Max encouraged her to be supportive of Black Lives Matter protests after being inspired by gamers he follows on YouTube.

"Today I had Emme and Max make me and Alex a sign for the protest. Max told me a few days ago: 'you know mom, since you have a following like some of my YouTuber gamers and they ask us to support things and we do, you should do that for George Floyd,'" she wrote.

"I said, funny you say that baby, I am planning a few things. Do you want to help by making a sign?' And they did!! ," she continued.

"We talked about how if one person doesn't have justice then no one does. That this country was built on the belief of freedom and justice for all. We must take a stand for what we believe in and fight against the injustices in this world. So we continue to peacefully protest until there is change."

A few months back, Jennifer spoke about blending her and Alex's families and how important it's been to their relationship. She discussed the situation with Oprah Winfrey on her 2020 Vision Tour.

"I think they just started seeing him come around and little by little we kind of eased into it," Jennifer said of how her kids were introduced to Alex.

"And then we went on a family trip so all the kids could be together, and that was a big step for us that we talked to them about," she continued. She asked her kids how they felt about Alex after they'd gotten to spend some time with him.

"What if they had said 'no we don't'?" Oprah asked.

"Then we would have had issues," Jennifer said.

"Then I would have sat there and been like, 'Why don't you like him?' I would have wanted to know … But it wasn't that. They really liked him."

Jennifer noted that Alex and Max hit it off right away.

"I remember this conversation with him — even though it's … three years ago now — he said something like, 'Alex is the only one who doesn't ever get mad at me,'" she recalled.

"Because Max is the one who gets in trouble in the house … [Alex] had so much patience with him because he's all over the place and he's the most beautiful boy and the most loving boy, but he will knock this over in a second … All you hear through the house is 'Max!' all the time. And Alex had this amazing patience with him."

On an appearance on Today With Hoda and Jenna in November, Alex joked about his and Jennifer's parenting dynamic.

"We have four kids, and no one listens to Dad," he joked. "Before she gets home, I'm the boss. When I get home, I'm security, I'm Uber, I'm the teacher."

Alex doesn't mind Jennifer's take-charge energy. In fact, it's what drew him to her. "I'm drawn to powerful women because of my mother — she had two jobs," he said.

"I have an incredible sister, and I just believe in women's equality. Women are the future."
