It was a huge weekend for Amanda Kloots, who finally got to visit Nick Cordero in the hospital. Her Broadway star husband has been battling the coronavirus at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. Amanda dropped him off there on March 31. Due to restrictions in place because of the pandemic, she has not been allowed to see him except virtually. But now, Amanda is sharing the great news that she was finally welcomed in to be by his bedside.
We don't know a lot of details about the visit, but Amanda took to Instagram to share that she finally got to see her husband in person. She posted a picture documenting the time she spent with him on Saturday. She captioned a photo of her and Nick's hand locked together with lyrics from the Andy Grammer song, Don't Give Up on Me.
The caption reads, "I'm not givin' up, I'm not givin' up, givin' up, No not me, Even when nobody else believes, I'm not goin' down that easily, So don't give up on me #day79."
Amanda has been documenting Nick's battle with the coronavirus on her Instagram page. And at times, the situation has been incredibly grim. Nick has given his wife and family, as well as doctors, multiple scares as he struggles through complications from the illness.
Nick has suffered multiple infections, was in a medically induced coma, and had one of his legs amputated as he battles for his life. Throughout it all, Amanda has been trying her best to stay positive as she cares for their young son, Elvis, who just had his first birthday. She has definitely not lost hope that her husband will be coming home.
Her courage has been absolutely inspiring to all of her followers. And now, after this weekend, Amanda has renewed hope in Nick's recovery, too. As the city of Los Angeles has begun reopening, she was finally allowed to visit her husband after months of waiting. It seems like the visit was exactly what she needed to restore her faith in his recovery.
Andy Grammer also posted a video of himself playing the song as a tribute to the couple. Amanda shared the video saying, "I listened to this song today on repeat! I played it at the hospital, on my way home, and then the rest of the day. The lyrics are so encouraging for someone going through a battle, a long road that you CANNOT give up on!" she wrote. "Thank you Andy! You have no idea how special this was to receive!"
Nick's mom has also now visited him in the hospital, Amanda says. Their young son Elvis has not yet been able to see his dad. Elvis just celebrated his first birthday. Of course, since he was in the hospital, that was a milestone that Nick couldn't be there for.
Nick's recovery has been a journey, to say the least. And followers have been watching for updates. Even those who didn't know who Amanda and Nick were are now invested. A large part of that has to do with his wife's bravery and optimism in the face of so much darkness.
It has to be unimaginably painful to be home, trying to maintain a sense of normalcy, while each day seems to present new challenges. Amanda has certainly felt those ups and downs. She recently shared that there have been times when she was told to say her goodbyes to Nick.
Still, Amanda is not letting go of her husband. She believes he's going to get better. It's that belief in his recovery that seems to be sustaining her and bringing her peace throughout an extraordinarily challenging time and so much uncertainty.
Despite her own incredible strength, Amanda credits her family, friends, and her followers with lifting her up. Even in such a time of turmoil, she has routinely gone out of her way to show her thanks for everything anyone has done for her. Friends and fans have routinely been posting their own upbeat videos for Nick, sharing thoughts or songs.
Amanda has been quick to acknowledge everyone who has shown up for her and Nick. "I cannot believe the love and support we have received from this army we have fighting with us!" she wrote on Instagram. "From paintings, singing, posting, helping, sharing medical info, dinners, homes, cars, babysitting, gifts, flowers- I honestly can’t list it all. It takes a village and I couldn’t do it without all of you!"
