There will always be something intriguing about the sand dollar. When these odd creatures are alive, they come in different colors, from purple to green to blue. But once they pass away, they float to the surface and are bleached pure white by the sun.
But these odd creatures also come with a lot of interesting old legends and folklore. They got their names simply because they resembled the old dollar pieces from back in the day, but with their interesting surfaces, a lot of people have given a deeper meaning to the appearance of these amazing creatures.
Some think that these beautiful animals, with their five points, are connected with Christ himself on the cross. Furthermore, if you break one open you might be lucky enough to find tiny bones that fragment into something truly strange: tiny doves!
This father and son duo have made quite a name for themselves by looking at "what's inside" odd objects ranging from mannequins to rattlesnake tails, but this video might be one of the most beautiful we've seen yet!
There really is something special about what they find inside. People believe that the sand dollar is also connected to peace on Earth, and we'd have to agree that if everyone could share a dove together, the world would be a much better place!
It's fun to break apart sand dollars like this one purchased from seaside stores or found on the beach, but please, if you find a sand dollar that has any coloration or seems to be alive, do not under any circumstance try to break it apart! These are living creatures, so don't hurt them if they're still wiggling around! Better yet, see if you can take them out further into the water!
