Derek and Raquel Pearson were extra vigilant about social distancing and self-quarantining during the pandemic.
Their 8-month-old son, Lucas, has health issues that make him particularly susceptible to respiratory problems should he contract COVID-19.
Lucas has a heart condition and issues with eating. "He needs special thickeners to be able to eat, otherwise he aspirates his milk, so we really depend on getting all of these supplies online so we don't have to go out to the store and bring a virus home,” Raquel told Inside Edition. "We just want to minimize exposure to coronavirus."
At the start of the pandemic, Raquel posted a note to the front door of their home in Nampa, Idaho. The note, which was meant for delivery drivers and other essential workers who stopped by, said their son's food was critical to his health as an at-risk baby. She wanted to do her best in making everyone aware of the importance of these packages.
One day, after placing another Amazon order for Lucas' special food and supplies, Raquel waited for the package to arrive.
When the Amazon delivery driver arrived, Raquel checked their Ring doorbell camera — and she saw the driver just standing over the box of food on her doorstep, completely still and solemn.
