The royal genes are strong! New photos of baby Archie, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's first son, prove just how much he looks like his dad, Prince Harry.
When Meghan Markle and Prince Harry announced they were expecting their first child, fans were thrilled for the happy couple. People couldn't wait to see what the new royal baby would look like.
Meghan gave birth to Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor on May 6, 2019, but she and Harry didn't pose for a photo call until a few days later. Fans all around the world were clamoring for photos of the new baby, but the duke and duchess didn't make a public appearance with their new bundle of joy until May 8 — two days after baby Archie's birth.
Since then, we've gotten only a few glimpses of the youngest royal. We saw pictures of him after his christening and during a polo match, but he's otherwise been kept out of the spotlight — until now.
During their first royal tour as a family of three, Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and Archie have traveled to Cape Town, South Africa. Photographers caught a few glimpses of the family as they disembarked from the plane, but none of the photos were particularly clear.
Now, Archie has made his first official appearance on tour with his parents. Meghan and Harry brought their baby boy with them to meet Archbishop Desmond Tutu and his daughter, Thandeka Tutu Gxashe. Archie smiled and giggled during the outing.
After Archie was born, everyone wondered whether he'd look more like his mom or dad. Now that we (finally) have more pictures of baby Archie, it's obvious just how much he looks like his dad, Prince Harry. Just take a look at these photos for proof!
When Archie was first introduced to the public, he was draped in a white blanket and wearing an adorable white hat. Although fans couldn't see much of the newborn's face, it was telling that his parents decided to dress him very similarly to Prince Harry when he was first introduced to the public.
The next time we saw Archie was at his christening, where he wore the same christening gown worn by his cousins — Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis — at their christenings. If it looks a lot like the gown his father wore, that's a good thing — the new christening gown is a replica of one commissioned in the mid-1800s.
On the day of Archie's christening, the duke and duchess released a few photos of their baby boy to commemorate the special day. When we got our first photo of Archie's face, it was clear how much he looked like his father. Just look how similar their features are!
It's obvious Archie gets his button nose, chubby cheeks, and light red hair from his father. Although Prince Harry had more hair than Archie does at this age, it looks like Archie may have inherited the ginger genes! Time will tell, but it looks like we have another little redheaded royal.
In photos like this, where Harry and Archie are wearing similar outfits, their resemblance is uncanny. One of the other things that's obvious from all these photos is just how much Prince Harry and Archie were/are adored by their mothers. Princess Diana always snuggled with Harry when he was a baby, and Meghan does the same with Archie.
As Archie gets older, it's possible he'll end up looking more like his mom, Meghan Markle, but right now he mainly looks like his dad. If the duke and duchess have other children, it'll be interesting to see which parent they end up looking more like.
Even when he's making a goofy face, Archie looks like Prince Harry! It seems like appearance isn't the only thing Archie got from his dad — he also got his dad's fun-loving personality. Like Prince Harry, Archie loves to smile and laugh, and he lights up every room he's in.
Look at those bright smiles! From the way it looks, Archie seems like he doesn't mind being the center of attention. He laughed and giggled while bouncing on his mom's lap as he met Archbishop Desmond Tutu. Hopefully we'll get to see more photos of him soon!
If this South Africa trip is any indication, Archie is quite the charmer. Like his dad, Archie knows he's adorable (and doesn't mind showing off for the camera). As he gets older, we'll see how much he continues to look like his dad.
