Every little boy has a certain image of his father engrained in his head. He looks up to that man and he aspires to be that man one day. He sees a little bit of himself in that man, maybe in the nose or the smile.
However, people's appearances can change over time. In the summer, skin can get darker or more pink. In the winter, we can put on a few pounds since we're hiding underneath all of those layers. We get haircuts, we change our clothes, and we can wear different accessories from day to day.
While our appearances change in almost every moment, we still remain essentially the same person on the inside.
When this little boy says hi to his father one day, Dad says that he's going to go to the bathroom for a minute. Carter doesn't make much of it in the moment, thinking that his mom and dad are just being silly.
Then, when little Carter goes to open the door to the bathroom, he hears his dad on the other side.
When he sees Dad at first, he doesn't quite realize the difference, but when he gives his dad's face a closer look?
This is just too precious. When he puts his tiny hand up to Papa's cheek, I just about lost it.
It doesn't matter what we look like on the outside, but you can tell that when Carter saw his dad come out of the bathroom, he was able to see a little bit more of himself in Dad's face.
