For all the healthy babies who are born every day, many more start their lives battling deadly diseases and birth defects. Virsaviya "Bathsheba" Borun was one such baby, born with a rare condition that left her heart and intestines outside of her body. Only about 5.5 babies out of every million are born with this problem, and many of them die not long after birth. But Bathsheba has surprised everyone by not only surviving despite her condition, but thriving.
Even though nothing but skin stands between Bathsheba's heart and the outside world, that hasn't stopped her from living her life to the fullest. Just like this little girl with a life-threatening bone marrow disease, she likes to dress up in pretty dresses, play with her friends, and dance! But that doesn't mean that Bathsheba and her mom have stopped looking for ways to treat the problem that leaves this child's life in constant danger, and they even moved across the world to try to find help. Even though Bathsheba has yet to get the surgery that could save her life, she never stops having a positive attitude, just like this inspirational teenage boy who always looked on the bright side despite his rare condition.

Bathsheba has Pentalogy of Cantrell, a birth defect that has left her with her heart and intestines outside her body.
Bathsheba's heart is covered only by skin, and something as simple as a hit to the chest could spell disaster for her.
She lived in Russia with her mom, but the doctors there didn't know how to treat her rare condition.
The little family recently moved to the U.S. in hopes of finding a way to help Bathsheba.
After a long search, they finally found a doctor willing to help this sweet little girl. Unfortunately, the procedure is extremely expensive.
A fund-raiser has been set up to help Bathsheba's mom, Dari, pay the thousands of dollars needed for her daughter's surgery.
