Guys Give Great Responses When Asked What It Means To “Be A Man”

There are sayings in our culture that have been passed down for so long, that sometimes we don't think about the meaning before saying them. Because we are so used to hearing these one-liners, we don't take the time to think about why they might be offensive, or who we are saying them to.

Sometimes it takes an outside perspective to fully understand why some of these old sayings should finally be put to rest.

If you look at some old newspaper ads, you may find that we were not always as sensitive to other's feelings as we are today. From ads featuring babies drinking soda, to ads that all but literally state "Men are better than women," there are all kinds of offensive things you can find that used to be right there in your morning newspaper.

But in this day and age, we know that everyone's feelings matter, and some old sayings may not mean what you had originally thought.

Cut Video decided to put one of these sayings to the test when they got a group of boys and men together (ages 5–50), and asked them what it means to "Be a man."

While it may seem harmless enough when you casually say it, when you dive deeper into the meaning behind it, you will find that it is actually offensive to just about anyone, male or female.

What's incredible about this video is that each man has their own unique definition of what this saying means to them. While some see it as offensive and belittling, others chose to put a positive spin on it.
