A 9-year-old boy from New Jersey will have a dinosaur-sized story to tell all of his friends when he gets back to school in September.
Little Kegan Rothman is an avid angler, so when he and his father heard about "Jurassic era" fish hidden in Canada's Fraser River, they decided that they just had to take a trip together!
After a few hours out on the river, Kegan suddenly felt a bite. His rod began to get pulled harder and harder, and when Kegan saw a rather large splash in the distance, he and his father knew that something big was on the other side.
After nearly two hours of struggling against the great beast, Kegan finally managed to reel in a 600-lb. Great White Sturgeon. By the end of it Kegan seemed exhausted: "I felt like I was going to pass out," he said to cameras. "I didn't think I was going to make it, but I actually did."
The fish put up a wonderful fight, and Kegan respectfully released the huge fish back into the water from which it came. After a few angry splashes, the giant sturgeon eagerly returned to his home and family!
