The couple exchanged vows on March 25, 2020, in an intimate ceremony at the Australia Zoo. The couple celebrated their first wedding anniversary by welcoming their first child.
On March 25, 2021, Bindi gave birth to a baby girl. She shared the joyous news the next day in a heartfelt Instagram post reflecting on being a wife and now a mother.
Bindi's not the only one who's excited for her little girl to be here. Robert Irwin is excited to be an uncle, as he shared his own tribute to his niece. Then there's new grandma Terri Irwin, who knows her late husband, Steve, would be elated about the newest little member of the family.
Fate has a funny way of working things out. Last year, Bindi Irwin found herself among countless brides whose weddings were impacted by the health crisis.
While Bindi's big wedding day didn't go down as planned, she and Chandler Powell exchanged vows in a small ceremony at the Australia Zoo on March 25, 2020.
Bindi and Chandler have been married for a year, and it's been quite a year. They've been hard at work tending to animals at the zoo and continuing the legacy of conservation that's at the heart of the Irwin family. They've also been working on their own little family.
In August, Bindi announced her pregnancy. "Chandler and I are proud to announce that we're expecting! It's an honour to share this special moment in our lives with you," she captioned the photo.
"Though I'm still in my first trimester, we really want you to be part of our journey from the beginning of this new life chapter. We couldn't wait to share the news as this beautiful little being has become the most important part of our lives. Your support means the world to us. Please let me know your best advice and send good vibes & prayers to our little sweetheart. Love & light. ❤️."
This year, March 25 brought another special occasion for the couple. On their first wedding anniversary, the couple officially became parents. Bindi shared the exciting news in an Instagram post Friday morning, along with a picture of the new parents marveling over their baby girl.
"March 25, 2021. Celebrating the two loves of my life. Happy first wedding anniversary to my sweetheart husband and day of birth to our beautiful daughter," she wrote.
Then Bindi revealed the baby girl's name.
"❤️ Grace Warrior Irwin Powell. Our graceful warrior is the most beautiful light," she continued.
"Grace is named after my great-grandmother, and relatives in Chandler's family dating back to the 1700s. Her middle names, Warrior Irwin, are a tribute to my dad and his legacy as the most incredible Wildlife Warrior. Her last name is Powell and she already has such a kind soul just like her dad."
"There are no words to describe the infinite amount of love in our hearts for our sweet baby girl. She chose the perfect day to be born and we feel tremendously blessed."
Chandler shared the same photo with his own message. "Grace Warrior Irwin Powell. After waiting for you to arrive for the last 9 months, finally meeting you has been the best moment of my life," he wrote.
"You have a big life ahead of you and no matter what, you will be surrounded by a whole lot of love. Thank you for gracing your beautiful mother and me on our wedding anniversary, so excited to have you home❤️."
Robert shared his own tribute to his niece. It's clear the 17-year-old is thrilled to be an uncle.
"Let the uncle adventures begin! Love you so much, Grace ❤️ This little one picked the two best parents in the entire world," Robert wrote.
"The most incredible, caring, and strong Mum … and the funnest, coolest, and kindest Dad. Love you three so much – I can't wait for this exciting journey ahead!"
Also overwhelmed with joy is Terri Irwin. The new grandma shared the news on Twitter.
"Love is not a big enough word. My heart is so incredibly happy. And I know that Steve would be beyond proud," she wrote.
"Grace is the next generation to continue his mission and message of conservation. She chose her parents wisely. Bindi and Chandler are already the best parents ever!"
