Boy Comforts His Two-Day-Old Sister By Singing To Her In The NICU

Having a sick child is every parent's nightmare. Having a sick newborn is perhaps the worst nightmare — to carry a child for nine months only to find out that they developed an illness is a hard diagnosis for parents, who may be conflicted between being filled with joy at the arrival of their little one and being devastated by the news.

Mom Sara Stanley was undoubtedly saddened by her newborn daughter's heart defect. The two-day-old little one was facing a tough road ahead of her, and needed surgery before she could go home. Her Hypoplastic Right Heart Syndrome was causing her lungs to collapse, and she needed open-heart surgery.

Sara, her husband, and their three-year-old son, Hunter, visited the infant in the NICU before the surgery. But while Sara filmed the family together, what Hunter did touched the hearts of everyone.

In 2012, mom Sara Stanley gave birth to a little girl, Hayden. But the infant was diagnosed with a heart defect, and needed to undergo surgery. Sara, her husband, and their son, Hunter, visited the little girl in the NICU.

Three-year-old Hunter was very tender with his baby sister. He followed his dad's lead and caressed her head, trying to soothe her before her open-heart surgery.

That's when Hunter started to sing. In his little voice, he gave his best rendition of "Baby Mine" while mom filmed the touching moment.

Just a few years later, baby Hayden is doing well, and she and her brother share a very special bond. Though she still fights CHD, it looks like her brother's singing helped make her better!
