There's no rule saying you can't date after a divorce. When your divorce was one of the most high-profile ones of all time, you may want to play the field carefully. Then again, Brad Pitt's been known to throw caution to the wind every now and then.
The news that's come out about Brad's latest relationship is truly mind-blowing. It appears that Brad is currently dating 27-year-old German model Nicole Poturalski. There's just under a 30-year age difference to Brad's 56 years old. It's not common, but it's certainly not a first, especially among Hollywood types.
There's something else about this relationship that's raising eyebrows. Page Six reports that Nicole is married. She's allegedly in an open marriage with 68-year-old German restaurateur Roland Mary. The couple has been married for eight years and share a 7-year-old son. It appears that Brad and Nicole actually met at one of her husband's restaurants while he was promoting last year's hit, Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood.
Brad Pitt's new girlfriend, Nicole Poturalski, is something else. The 27-year-old German model is stunning. Taking a page out of recent costar Leonardo DiCaprio's book, Brad is having a bit of a May-December romance, or in this case, more like April-October. Brad's coming up on 57, which is still younger than Nicole's current husband.
Confused? Let's break it down. It appears that Nicole is married to German restaurateur Roland Mary. The 68-year-old has been her husband for the last eight years. They also share a 7-year-old son, Emil.
So how did Brad come into her orbit? The two met at — where else? — one of Roland's restaurants.
"Brad Pitt first met Nicole [Poturalski] in August last year at Borchardt which is her husband Roland's restaurant," a source told the Daily Mail.
"Brad Pitt has been coming to Borchardt for years. He knows Roland [Mary] and Nicole were at the restaurant when he came to celebrate his new film."
"Brad was introduced to Roland's wife Nicole [Poturalski] and she passed him her number," the source continues.
"Nicole travels a lot for her work as a fashion model and she connected with Brad Pitt while she was in LA for work."
Roland isn't losing any sleep over this, according to the source.
When asked to comment on the relationship, he declined. Emil, for all intents and purposes, seems to be splitting his time between his parents. He was spotted reporting to school earlier this month in Berlin but has also been seen in Beverly Hills with Nicole.
"Roland is a very philosophical guy," the source said.
"He has been married several times and has five children. He is not interested in negativity or jealousy. They are still married but you could describe their relationship as an 'open marriage.'"
Brad and Nicole were spotted getting off a plane in Paris on August 26. "They were kissing and Brad was being super attentive to her," a source told OK!
"He was in a semi-public place but didn't seem to mind people seeing him. She's a real beauty and obviously a lot younger than him."
From there, Brad and Nicole caught a private jet to Le Castellet Airport, 30 miles from Château Miraval. They were later spotted there. Brad owns the property with ex-wife Angelina Jolie, which is where things get even more bizarre.
It doesn't feel like a coincidence that Brad decided to take Nicole to the chateau in late August. Brad and Angelina were married there on August 23, 2014. The wedding was very much a family affair, with all six of their children present. Angelina's veil even featured pictures drawn by the kids.
If that doesn't make the home sacred enough, consider that the twins, Vivienne and Knox, were born in Nice, with the family spending many weeks after at the chateau.
"If Brad wants a weekend of sex with his new fling, get a cheap motel like everyone else does. It is outrageous that he has taken her to the family home for a dirty weekend. This is the place where Brad and Angie got married and raised their kids, he couldn't find somewhere else to hook up with his latest squeeze?" a source close to Angelina told OK!
"Their Côtes de Provence estate is stuck in custody limbo because the place is very special for both of them and neither wants to give it to the other."
"This place was meant to be for the kids' future, not as Brad's personal love nest. Angie is livid and this makes her want to fight even harder in October when the two of them next see a judge," the source added.
A friend in Brad's court offers this defense: "Brad knows he's taking a risk now that his new girlfriend isn't a secret anymore, he knows Angie can be jealous and spiteful, but for god sake, enough is enough. He deserves to find a little happiness too."
In a rare move, Angelina took the kids out to eat at Nobu in Malibu. It's been a pretty notorious celeb paparazzi spot since celebrity options have been limited in California, so many believe she knew she'd be photographed there.
Angelina looked effortlessly stunning for the outing, while the kids were a gaggle of teens like any other.
Fans of Brad and Angelina have a lot of complicated feelings about this recent series of events. It seems Angelina is continuing to illustrate her commitment to her kids. In the four years that this divorce has been in progress, she hasn't been seriously or consistently romantically linked to anyone.
Dating an already married woman so many years younger than him isn't exactly making Brad look like a stable parental figure, which could matter in the unsettled portions of their proceedings.
On the flip side, people have pointed out that this obvious photo op of an outing was beneath Angelina. She doesn't need to defend herself against Brad's decision to bed women who are closer to his oldest child's age than his own. She's remained focused on her kids and her humanitarian efforts, and that's admirable enough.
