After weeks of speculation, we finally know where things stand between Brian Austin Green and Megan Fox. Rumors began to swirl when the 34-year-old actress was spotted with rapper Machine Gun Kelly at different points during the shutdown.
The relationship between Brian and Megan has a rocky history. The two got engaged in late 2006 after two years of dating. In 2009, they quietly called things off amid speculation Megan had a fling with Shia LaBeouf. A year later, Brian and Megan were back on.
Just weeks after news they had reconciled broke, the two were married in Hawaii. They welcomed children Noah and Bodhi and struggled with the transition to parenthood. Megan publicly commented that the two were no longer intimate. In August, Megan filed for divorce citing irreconcilable differences.
Megan never went through with the divorce, however. In August 2016, the couple welcomed their third child, Journey. A year later, Brian commented on how tough working on marriage was. Things had seemed good in recent years, but now we're learning Brian and Megan have split yet again. The two have separated after 10 years of marriage and are sharing custody of their three children, Brian announced on his podcast.
Brian Austin Green has confirmed that he and Megan Fox have decided to separate. Brian discussed the decision in a recent episode of his podcast, …With Brian Austin Green. He gave more insight as to how they came to this point.
Brian explained that Megan traveled abroad for work in the fall. When she returned, she shared some feelings she'd recognized while she was gone. "I feel more like myself (when we're apart) and I like myself better … and I feel like that might be something worth trying for me," he claims she told him.
The two decided together to separate around Thanksgiving. They've been prioritizing their three children together. They are parents to 7-year-old Noah, 6-year-old Bodhi, and 3-year-old Journey.
"We had an amazing relationship and I will always love her and I know she will always love me. And I know as far as a family, like what we built is really cool. It's really special," he explained. "We decided, 'Let's make sure we don't lose that.'"
He and Megan have also discussed the future. They vow to continue to take vacations and celebrate holidays together as a family. "For the rest of our lives, we have three amazing kids that we get to raise and watch grow and become adults and we're always going to be in each other's lives," he noted.
Rumors of trouble between the two have arisen at various times since their near-divorce in 2015. Recently, Megan's been spotted spending a lot of time with rapper Machine Gun Kelly, which Brian also addressed.
"I don't want people to think that her or he are villains or I was a victim in any way with any of this because I wasn't," he explained.
Brian explained Megan says the two are "friends at this point" and says MGK is a "really nice, genuine guy."
"Normally Megan and I stay really quiet about things like this and we sort of just let the story be what people want to make of it," he noted. "But it's really become something that kept me up last night because I don't want anybody to be vilified in this situation."
Brian is admittedly hurt by the split but wants to keep things as positive as possible with Megan moving forward.
"It sucks. It sucks when life changes and something that you're used to, that you've been doing for 15 years, you try and not get rid of but you change," he said.
"At the end of it all, she's been my best friend for 15 years, you know? And I don't want to lose that."
Brian admitted that marriage was hard work in an interview after their first split and the subsequent birth of their third child.
"It's work. I think for anyone. When you get to the point that we have, you have kids and you've been married for awhile … You just take it day by day." he said during a podcast episode.
"Some people look at divorce or things not working as a disappointment, and it's not. The fact that it worked at all is a positive. We have three amazing kids. We've had and we have a great relationship."
Megan threw some fans for a loop during a recent Instagram Live session. The actress hasn't personally commented on her split. During the live video promoting Redline Steel, she alluded to her married name several times. She showed a Tree of Life product featuring the Green name that she picked up.
Sources close to the couple spoke to People magazine about how they were each handling the split. One source spoke to Megan's time with MGK.
"They have been spending time together at Megan's house in the past few weeks," said the source. "They seem to have fun and look happy together. Megan only sees him when the kids are with Brian."
Brian is focused on finding peace and putting the kids first. "The split has been tough for him, but he is doing his best to stay positive," a source noted.
"They split in the past and then got back together. Brian has no plans to file for divorce. He isn't ready to date either."
The source believes Brian is hoping that there's still a path forward for them. "It seems he is hoping that he and Megan once again can work things out. He is giving her space and letting her do her thing," the source said.
"He wants her to be happy. He thinks she is a great mom and is not at all bitter that she is dating."
Brian also alluded to future reconciliation on his podcast. "I mean, we have a lot of life left," he said.
"So the paths have started [going] in separate ways for now. They could come back together. They may not. We don't know. I don't know. I don't want to make any predictions with that because I have no idea."
