It's not the position any parent wants to find themselves in, and yet it happened to three in a single instant. Brittneyrose Torres, a mother of two, decided to become a commercial surrogate for a couple who couldn't conceive. At first, things were going well, but when the medical status of triplets she was carrying appeared to change, each parent's values were put to the test.
Brittanyrose was implanted with two embryos, but one of them split. Now pregnant with two males and one female, doctors suggested that the girl might be medically at risk. When the couple heard this, they insisted Brittneyrose abort the third child. Like surrogate mom Crystal Kelly, Brittneyrose refused to terminate the fetus.
She told the New York Post's Carl Campanile that the parents told her from the start, "'We would never want to abort a baby’s life.' We did not think we would be in this position."

When 26-year-old Brittneyrose Torres saw a Facebook post from a family who couldn't conceive, she offered to be their surrogate. The excited couple agreed and paid her $30,000. She was implanted with two embryos; one of them split, and today, Brittneyrose is 17 weeks pregnant with triplets.
There is only one problem. At 13 weeks, the couple became adamant that she abort one of the fetuses. They believe that there is too high of a medical risk for developmental disabilities. Brittneyrose contacted the doctors and thus far, she claims the triplets are all fine.
“I emailed my doctors. There were no abnormalities,” Torres told the New York Post. “I told her I couldn’t abort one of the children. I could not emotionally and physically do that at nearly 13 weeks. I believe it will be killing this baby.”
Brittneyrose says that when she agreed to carry the children, the parents said that they wouldn't abort unless it were "life or death." For Brittneyrose, this isn't life or death. She even volunteered to adopt the third fetus, but the couple refused. There's no easy answer to this; it all comes down to what your beliefs are. This is why Brittneyrose chose to share her story to let other surrogates know what they are really getting into. Legally no judge would force Brittneyrose to abort the child, although many would question her decision.
“I want other women not to be put in this situation. They shouldn’t be forced to do something they don’t want to," she said.
