To ring in the new year right, Queen Elizabeth has had a new photo made with Princes Charles, William, and George. The photo is truly impressive, as it's quite a sight to see four generations of the monarchy together.
In the photo, which was taken by Ranald Mackechnie, the Queen is seen standing in front of Prince William and next to Prince George. Prince Charles is behind George, with his hand on his grandson's shoulder.
Prince George has an especially mischievous smile on his face as he faces the camera, and one can only imagine what the 6-year-old was thinking of getting up to! The photo is a refreshing, upbeat shot from a family that is probably happy to leave 2019 and its myriad of family and national troubles behind.
On that note, there have been no updates from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle since they shared a sweet photo of Archie — or from Prince Andrew, who is still thoroughly enmeshed in dramas of his own. If there's one thing to count on, it's that the royal family will most likely keep trucking along, the same as it always does.
The caption of the photo reads: " Happy New Year!
"A new portrait of The Queen and The Prince of Wales, The Duke of Cambridge and Prince George has been released to mark the start of a new decade.
"Wishing all of our followers a happy and healthy 2020!"
Followers of the Kensington Royal account were thrilled with the updated snapshot of the family members. Since this is Prince William and Kate Middleton's official Instagram account, fans of the family love it whenever they get a glimpse of Wills and his kids.
Prince William and Kate Middleton also recently shared a review of 2019 in video format. They definitely had quite the year, as it included plenty of travel and initiatives for the public. In their caption, the couple wrote, "To all the fantastic organisations and inspirational people we met and worked with in 2019: Thank you for a wonderful year, and see you in 2020!"
Prince Charles shared his own year in review on the Clarence House Instagram account. He captioned the post, "As the decade comes to an end, we wanted to share some highlights from a decade in the life of TRHs The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall.
"Wishing all our followers a very Happy New Year! ."
Sadly, the Queen didn't share her own 2019 in review, but perhaps such things are a little below her pay grade. She did update her account with her annual Christmas address, which also marked the 75th anniversary of D-Day. In the address, the Queen said, "By being willing to put past differences behind us and move forward together, we honour the freedom and democracy once won for us at so great a cost."
Happily, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle did share their own 2019 in review, which kicked off with a brand-new photo of baby Archie in Canada. In the photo, Prince Harry is holding Archie and smiling as the baby cheerfully looks off to the side. Perhaps grandmother Doria was right there, making funny faces?
The family also celebrated the four generations in a Christmas post at the end of last year. In the photo, Prince George is seen mixing a recipe while Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles, and Prince William each smile and look on. George definitely has his work cut out for him! It'll be a treat to see what else he gets up to in the coming year.
