Bus driver Kristina Behrman was minutes away from dropping 38 students off of a bus when she saw smoke coming from the back of the bus. She immediately pulled over and called 911. But before help could arrive, she noticed flames building.
The school bus driver from Davenport quickly evacuated the kids and escorted them far away from the bus right before it burst into flames! According to reports, the fire grew so hot, it "blew out the windows, peeled away paint, and flattened the tires." Thankfully, she was able to get all the children safely away from the bus, unscathed.
Although Behrman is being hailed a hero, she says she was just doing her job to keep the kids safe.
"The kids did great," Buhrman said. "They got off in a single-file line. They moved quickly and they had to climb over the guardrail to get into the grass."
