A Terminal Cancer Diagnosis Made This Mom Move Up Her Wedding Date

For many women, finding a partner to share their lives with and then having children with that person are counted among some of their happiest moments in life.

Unfortunately for some, their pregnancy also serves as the time in their lives when they find out they have cancer. And while there are cases where moms-to-be (like this one whose breast feeding photos brought us to tears) are able to undergo treatment while still safely carrying their unborn children, there are other cases where the medications required to treat their disease are just too harsh to also keep the baby safe at the same time.

Expectant mom Ashley Caughey fell into the latter of those two groups, being diagnosed with brain cancer during her pregnancy. Selflessly, the expectant mother decided that she would carry her daughter and forego treatment. By the time her daughter Paisley was born, Ashley's condition had progressed too far.

Not wanting Ashley to miss the opportunity to marry her fiancé Jonathan, the couple's friend (and photographer) Lindsey Natzic-Villatoro decided to pull together the wedding of a lifetime for the pair. In all, Natzic-Villatoro — along with the vendors she reached out to — was able to give the Caugheys a dream $80,000 wedding, saying that it came down to wanting Ashley to "feel loved" and to "forget for just one day" about the fact that she has cancer.
