There's nothing more unfair in life than a child forced to fight for their life.
After twelve-year-old Rose McGrath conquered the biggest battle we hope she will ever face, she was hit with another devastating blow…and it has everyone outraged.
When a child is sick with cancer, you would think most people would act like the little boy in this story and do something kind to put a smile on their face during the difficult struggle. That's why Rose's parents were appalled by the administration of her daughter's school, St. Joseph Middle School in Battle Creek, MI, when they cut her zero slack as she was undergoing treatment for leukemia.
If you know anyone who has battled cancer, you already know the physical and emotional toll chemotherapy can take on a person is just awful. Obviously, Rose needed some time away from her seventh grade class while she was sick, but now that she is in remission, the Catholic school system she has been a part of her entire life not only tried to fail her, but kicked her out for missing too many days.
“I didn’t do anything wrong, but they still got rid of me,” Rose tells CBS News with tears in her eyes in the following video. Since word of her expulsion became national news, the school has offered Rose readmission, but Barbara McGrath told CBS her daughter will attend public school moving forward, as "It sounds like they're not going to pass her anyway, even if she goes back."
Also in the news: Don't miss the reason why this 5-year-old is in trouble for what she wore to school. When will it end?!
